Below is a general overview of the types of editing I offer and the corresponding charges. Some projects may require a combination of services, and the fees can be adjusted accordingly.
Developmental Editing
One Round: $0.02 per word
A comprehensive review of your manuscript, including plot, structure, character development, pacing, setting, conflict, dialogue, and overall readability. Throughout the manuscript, I will add relevant comments and provide a detailed editorial letter. All changes are made using Track Changes, allowing you to reject any revisions you disagree with easily.
Two Rounds: $0.025 per word
Once you complete the first round of suggested revisions, I will re-evaluate your manuscript. This option is ideal for those who strive for perfection and is a great way to identify any errors that may have been added during revisions.
Line Editing/copy editing
$0.025 per word
A line-by-line review of your manuscript for clarity, consistency, spelling, grammar, punctuation, repetition, flow, phrasing, point of view, tense, and descriptive inconsistencies.
Manuscript evaluation/beta reading
$40 per hour
A high-level overview evaluating the strengths and potential weaknesses of your manuscript. I will also provide a detailed feedback letter with suggestions for areas needing improvement.
proofreading
$0.012 per word
An evaluation of your project for errors in grammar, punctuation, spelling, inconsistencies in style, layout, typography, etc. It does not address big-picture issues or include line edits. All edits are made using Track Changes.
Other Types of Projects
$40 per hour
An hourly rate applies to various types of writing, such as novellas, short stories, query letters, synopses, and content for websites or blogs, as well as direct mail or email marketing materials.
There is a minimum charge of $40 for editing services.
